6 Easy Way How to Remove Vomit Smell from Couch

Posted on

When vomit makes it way to your couch, there must be long and sometimes interesting stories to accompany it.

It can be your kids moving too much after meal or it can be you with that kind of night.

You can clean the vomit, but its acidic trench will remain there. It is what causes the smell. Don’t throw out your couch yet.

Try the following methods to remove the odor.

SIMPLE TIPS HOW TO REMOVE VOMIT SMELL FROM COUCH

1. Get the Cushion Out

If the vomit only affected your couch cushion, get it out and clean it. It prevents the vomit from spilling over the other surfaces.

If your couch has covers, make sure to immediately remove the covers from the couch. It prevents them from being absorbed by the couch. However, this trick won’t be effective if the vomit is already soaked in.

Pour some amount of water on the affected area to moisten. When you are done pouring, you can start blotting the area with paper towel or dry cloth.

It should help in removing the smell. You may need to repeat this for two or three times to entirely remove the smell. Warm water usually work faster than cold water, but both are fine.

3. Use Hot Water and Shampoo

You can also create your own solution from three cups of hot water and a teaspoon of shampoo. Mix both and apply the mixture on the affected area.

Scrub a little without too much pressure to make sure it removes the smell and stain. Then, continue with blotting the area until dry. It commonly works right away the first time.

After a day, don’t use the couch yet. Blot the area and leave it to fry for around 24 to 48 hours. Though effective, this solution shouldn’t be used on leather couch due to negative reactions it can make.

5. Sun Power

After trying those methods above, it is recommended to take out the couch. Direct sunlight is an effective property in deodorizing your couch.

The effect of direct sunlight, open space, and fresh air will remove the smell from the underlying cushion and the couch upholstery.

Make sure to take out your coach during sunny day on an exposed area for effective result. It should remove moisture as well.

6. Baking Soda Rules!

Baking soda always helps in many ways. To use it, pour some water to moisten the couch surface. Then, spread the baking soda on the affected area.

Rub a little to make sure it removes the stain as well, and then blot dry the area using damp cloth. Leave it to dry for a while.

All the methods above are easy to apply and you need only small things to do so. You can try all methods in the same order to make sure tougher smell can be removed and you don’t need a new couch.
