Mold on the bathroom walls could be really irritating to look at, but it also could cause allergic reactions and respiratory problem if it grows larger.

Whenever the walls got mold you must remove of it as soon as possible, don’t let it be hazardous for your health. These are the basic knowledge of how to remove it.

The Cause

Before discussing about how to remove the mold, it’s best to understand the cause first so that its growth can be prevented in the future.

The first cause is moisture, means your bathroom is humid and lack of sunlight, make sure your bathroom has enough ventilation to reduce the moisture.

The second cause is water. Mold is living creature and it feeds on water, so make sure there is no leak on the sink, faucets, or water closet.

The Chemicals

There are essential chemicals that can be chosen from your house for removing the mold, and one of it is bleach. Usually, bleach is used to clean clothes, but it also has strong disinfectant against bacteria, makes it one of the best ways to remove mold.



The other way is to use baking soda. It has mild antibacterial property which is safe for you and your family, yet it is strong to kill mold.

The Tools

We got the chemicals, now let’s discuss about the tools.

The first tool needed is mask. Why mask? It is because the fumes from bleach may cause lightheaded if it is inhaled, it also may cause your body to feel weak and the mold itself may cause respiratory problems; safety first.

Second, rubber gloves are also needed for your safety, don’t let the bacteria on the mold to touch your skin or it may cause allergic reaction. Another cause of using it is because touching bleach may cause irritation to your skin.

Third, prepare your scrub brush for scrubbing the mold.

Fourth, prepare your water hose so that all of the chemicals could be rinsed later.

Fifth, prepare a spray bottle to put mixed chemicals in. Last but not least, dry towel or dry cloth to rub the surfaces.




The Steps

To remove the mold using bleach, first mix a half up to one cup with a gallon of water, then put it in a spray bottle. Then, spray it thoroughly until it is saturated. Let it sit for a while, and then rinse with the water hose. Don’t let it wet, remember that water is the main source for mold’s growth, so make sure to dry the surface with a dry towel or cloth.

To remove mold using baking soda, first put one quarter tablespoon of baking soda in a spray bottle, mix it up with water and shake it. Then, spray it on the mold until it is saturated. After that scrub the mold from the surface and rinse it with water after all the mold has been scrubbed. Let it dry by itself.
